In Celebration of Women

Marking the 100th anniversary of a woman's right to vote, The Eugene Vocal Arts chamber ensemble presents In Celebration of Women in recognition of women composers throughout history. Nuns, courtesans, court musicians, high-born ladies, modern artists—women composers from Hildegard von Bingen in the 12th century through Barbara Strozzi, Marianna von Martines, Lili Boulanger, Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, Emma Lou Diemer, Rosephanye Powell and Joan Szymko.

This multi-media experience will highlight women who have persevered against all odds to express themselves as artists and prominent activists.
