Eugene Concert Orchestra is seeking a Personnel Manager for the 2025 – 2026 season. The Orchestra is a
part of the Eugene Concert Choir organization, a resident company of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts
in Eugene, Oregon. The Orchestra performs in collaboration with two choral ensembles: Eugene Concert
Choir, a 100-voice masterworks chorus, and its associated chamber choir, Eugene Vocal Arts, under the
artistic direction of Dr. Diane Retallack. The Eugene Concert Choir organization will be entering its 51 st season
as a valued arts organization in the community, and was recipient of the Arts and Business Alliance of Eugene
2024 Fentress Award for extraordinary accomplishment in the cultural life of Eugene.
Compensation: $22 per hour, with hours as needed throughout the season. Work may vary from a few hours
per week to 10 – 20 hours during concert week.

ORCHESTRA MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
FOR EUGENE CONCERT ORCHESTRA
The orchestra manager for Eugene Concert Orchestra assists the Artistic & Executive Director by acting in a human resources capacity for orchestra personnel and is a liaison between musicians and the Artistic Director. The Orchestra Manager issues personal service agreements, monitors orchestra schedules, maintains attendance records, and serves as a resource and counsel for musicians. The position requires interaction with the Artistic Director, Hult Center operations, musicians, and musician union representatives. This position requires finely tuned communications skills and discretion in handling confidential personnel matters.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Integrated Media Agreement between the AFM and the Eugene Concert Choir are met.
- Issues Personal Service Agreements to the players for all concerts and events.
- Generates rosters containing personnel list and service schedule for all performances. Ensures appropriate complement of musicians is contracted for all rehearsals and performances, including substitute and extra musicians that are acceptable to the artistic director and section principals.
- Keeps roster of contact information of musicians accurate and up to date.
- Monitors and organizes seating arrangements as directed by Artistic Director and section principals.
- Manages stage-hands in the setup of orchestra rehearsals and performances.
- Communicates to Artistic Director if musicians fail to meet requirements of attendance, punctuality, dress, and sobriety.
- Ensures Artistic Director or guest conductor adheres to break requirements in CBA and that orchestra services do not extend beyond what is allowed in CBA.
- Tracks any occurring overtime.
- Communicates logistical needs that arise once rehearsals have begun for musicians and equipment to the artistic director and stagehands as applicable.
- Coordinates all rehearsal and performance setups with production manager, artistic director, and stage crew.
- Draws up orchestra plot for stage hands, and attends production meetings with Hult Center staff.
- May serve as stage manager, if agreeable.
- Attends all rehearsals and performances of the Eugene Concert Orchestra.
- Marks, copies, and distributes orchestra parts as directed by the artistic director.
- Performs other mutually agreeable duties as assigned by the artistic director.
- Produces payroll information immediately following the close of a production for processing, including services for bowing, doubling, travel allowance, and cartage.
- Collects and assembles orchestra parts at the conclusion of a production and ships rental parts back to publishers.
- Oversees and manages all auditions including posting, organizing, mailings and logistics in accordance with the terms of the CBA and AFM guidelines.
- Maintains files to include W4 and I9.
- Monitors tenure-track and tenure status of the players.
