ECCO – Eugene Concert Choir Outreach

Led by our Music Education Co-Directors, Jill Switzer and Kami Hendrix, this program involves three 30-45 minute lively and interactive classroom presentations designed to introduce youth, grades Kinder-8th grade, to musical concepts and to choral singing. Through learning songs from one of our main season Hult Center concerts, students explore music fundamentals such as melody, form, vocal sound and rhythm. Presentations are appropriate for all classrooms and should not be limited to music class.

ECCO student participants receive a free pass for themselves and one accompanying adult to attend our spring kids concert and perform the song they learned with the 110-voice Eugene Concert Choir, Diane Retallack, director, and special guest artists at the Hult Center.

Participating classes receive a digital audio file of the songs, sheet music and any related materials for teacher use in the classroom.

In 2022 we visited 8 schools with more than 40 presentations to over 860 students. Many of those students joined us to sing Movie Magic for Kids at the Hult Center. We are eager to reach your students this year

ECCO 2023 participants will receive a free pass for themselves and an accompanying adult to attend the Earth Mass for Kids concert on Saturday, February 18 at 2:30 pm at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts.

They will perform For the Beauty of the Earth/ Canticle of Brother Sun and The Promise of a Fisherman on the Silva Concert Hall stage, alongside Paul Winter, Grammy-award winner artist and composer, and the Eugene Concert Choir.

ECCO is FREE.
